Get found before you chase rankings
A new site needs a clear hostname (usually www), HTTPS, a sitemap, robots.txt that does not block important pages, and unique titles and descriptions. Submit the sitemap in Google Search Console and request indexing for key URLs.
Canonical tags should point at the preferred URL so you do not split signals between www and non-www.
Content that matches how people search
Create useful pages for your services and the questions customers actually ask. Long-tail pages (“web design for dentists in Bristol”) are more realistic early wins than broad terms like “digital agency UK”, which are competitive.
Internal links help Google understand structure — link from services to related guides and contact, and from location pages back to service detail pages.
Timelines and honesty
Meaningful organic traffic often takes weeks to months. Nobody can guarantee rankings. Paid search can fill the gap while organic grows. Focus on technical health, helpful content and earning mentions over time — not shortcuts that risk a penalty.
